Membership

Many people annually support the Gallery by becoming a member. Gallery members are actively involved with social activities, volunteering and championing the Gallery and its programmes in the wider community. Members pay an annual membership fee which includes the following benefits:

  • Invitations to exhibition openings and advanced notice of public programs and special events
  • Quarterly gallery newsletter
  • 10% discount on Gallery shop purchases
  • Free or discounted entry or discounts at most Victorian public galleries on presentation of a current membership card

Volunteering

Volunteers make an important contribution to the operation of the Gallery and are valued members of our team. Our volunteers are involved in providing customer service, administrative support and assisting at exhibition openings. Giving

Since its establishment in 1968, Ararat Regional Art Gallery has benefitted from the generous support of donors. Targeted giving can support special acquisitions, the development of art prizes, publications, education programmes or artwork conservation. The Gallery Director is always happy to meet to discuss ideas and opportunities with prospective Gallery benefactors.

Donations of artworks

Donations of artworks have proven vital to the development of Ararat Regional Art Gallery's permanent collection. Over the years artists, collectors and supporters have generously gifted or funded the purchase of many important works of art for the Gallery's collection. All proposed donations of artworks are assessed against the Gallery's acquisition policy with a long-term view. If you have an artwork that you would considering donating, the first step is to discuss your proposal with the Gallery's Director.

Cultural Gifts Program

The Australian Government's Cultural Gifts Program encourages gifts of significant cultural items to public art galleries, museums and libraries by offering donors a tax deduction for the market value of their gifts, under Subdivision 30-A of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 (the Act). Detailed information about the Cultural Gifts Program is available on the website: www.arts.gov.au/cgp. The Gallery Director assists guiding donors through this process and liaises with the Australian Government's Cultural Gifts Program. For more information, please contact the:

Bequests

Through your Will you may wish to provide a bequest to support the collection and activities of the Ararat Regional Art Gallery. Your solicitor or financial advisor can provide advice on how to establish a bequest in your Will that will support Ararat Regional Art Gallery.

To include the Ararat Regional Art Gallery in your Will the following suggested wording may be used:

Gift of cash or a proportion of your estate:

‘I give (proportion of estate or dollar amount or the residue of my estate) to Ararat Regional Art Gallery, Victoria, for the purpose of acquiring works of art.’

Gift of art:

‘I give my (clearly describe the work of art) to the Ararat Regional Art Gallery, Victoria for its use at its absolute discretion.

It is important to note that all works of art gifted to the Gallery through a bequest must comply with the Gallery's Acquisitions Policy.

To ensure your bequest can best support the long term advancement of the Gallery it would be advisable to discuss your thoughts with the Gallery Director.
